Man who spas – how times have changed!

Scott in robe

Normally my Saturday afternoons are spent watching football or at least following the results but a few years ago I swapped the football stadium and pints of beer for a spa and herbal tea in Le Touquet converting myself into a man who spas.

An interesting invitation labelled ‘girlie weekend’  dropped into my inbox but I didn’t let that put me off!

My lovely (and understanding) wife even gave me the okay despite it just being me going with an all female group.

I had previously had the odd spa treatment but it was basically massages whilst away on holidays with my wife but this was a full on spa day!

Thalassa Spa

Spas are something Le Touquet does very well and the pick of the bunch is the Thalassa Le Touquet – a lavishly decorated seawater spa which overlooks the beach.

Spa bath

We got to indulge in four treatments: a ‘bain bouillonnant’ – a big whirlpool bath which gives you a full body massage at the same time.

A ‘modelage’, one of the most relaxing massages I’d ever had, and a hydrojet, which involved lying face down on waterbed and having pumps massage your entire body.

After some vigorous pummelling and finally getting used to wandering around in a white dressing gown it was time for the final treatment, the douche jet.

To be honest I was more than a little nervous as I was told it involved standing in a corridor and being hosed down.

It sounded like when Andy Dufresne first arrived in Shawshank prison but of course I needn’t have worried, it was definitely a lot more fun than that.

Whilst myself and the group I was with were younger than most of the clientele it really was an excellent experience.

After my initial apprehension of walking around in the dressing gown I actually felt very relaxed and was happy to become a man who spas! It was able to enjoy the experience.

For a man to go to a spa either on your own or with a partner is something that is perfectly acceptable now – I admit I couldn’t imagine my father having done something similar at my age but we now live in a different time!

I was really converted to be a man who spas. This experience was so enjoyable that for my next holiday with my wife we decided to head to Tunisia to another Thalasso Spa.

The times are really changed. Men and women reversed their roles and now they can finally understand each other! Oh, and I desperately need to give myself a spa day! Perhaps for my bday would be a nice time

It’s so inspiring that you go to spas & are actually enjoying it 🙂 Times have really changed, or well – wasn’t it in antique greece where men loved spas also?

Times have changed my friend. It’s nothing unusual if a man goes for a spa nowadays. Infact i believe both the genders need equal amount of relaxation. 🙂
